Free GC evaluation tool · 2026

Score contractor software on the job you actually run.

Compare three platforms using the same change order, draw, subcontractor record, field update, and budget. Record what each demo proves. Leave any feature you have not tested marked as untested.

A fair comparison

One job. One rubric. Three demos.

Use a representative or fictional GC job so every vendor faces the same questions. Ask for the exact plan you would buy. Record completed work and source records, not a sales slide or an “AI-powered” badge.

01 · Prepare

Bring a change order, overdue draw, daily field note, subcontractor document, and budget question.

02 · Observe

Ask each vendor to show who does the work, where approval happens, and the record left afterward.

03 · Decide

Score only what you saw in the quoted plan. Revisit every untested item before comparing totals.

Your working scorecard

Rate the evidence, not the pitch.

Rename the vendors, choose how important each test is to your business, and score the demos. The worksheet runs in your browser. Download the CSV before leaving; your entries are not stored by this page.

  1. 1. Does it know the right job?

Ask about a change order, invoice, or daily log. Does the answer point to the correct source record, date, and permission scope?

  2. 2. Can it finish useful work?

Follow one task from trigger or AI draft through review, notification, and the resulting job record. A draft alone is partial evidence.

  3. 3. Will the field and office use it?

Have a PM and field user complete a daily update and find it in the office. Include a subcontractor if that is central to your work.

  4. 4. What is the actual plan cost?

Get a written quote for the workflows shown, user limits, onboarding, migration, integrations, and any AI tier or usage charge.

  5. 5. Where is human approval?

Test permissions and audit history for a client message, invoice, payment state, or subcontractor action. Check how to pause an agent.

  6. 6. Can you leave with your records?

Export a sample project with contacts, financial records, documents, and activity history. Check what is missing and the format delivered.

What your demos established

These are your observations, not Opsite ratings. Untested items stay in the maximum so an incomplete demo cannot look like a win.

Compare totals only after all vendors have completed the same six tests. A high score on fewer tests is not a winner.

Your vendor names, ratings, and notes stay in this browser tab. The CSV is generated on your device. Do not enter private client or job details.

When Opsite is on your shortlist

Put our own software through the same test.

Tell us the kind of GC jobs you run and the handoff you want to see. We will review the relevant workflow and quoted plan with you. If a requirement is outside Opsite’s fit, ask us to say so.

Bring these to the conversation

One representative job, a recent change order, an unpaid draw or invoice, a subcontractor document, and a field update. Use fictional or redacted records if necessary.

The AI contractor software guide explains where Opsite, Buildertrend, JobTread, Houzz Pro, Eano Pro, Procore, and Jobber may fit.
